MPRG —
ANNEX PROJECT SPACE

‘Adrift Together’, commissioned wall painting, Mornington Peninsula Regional Gallery, 2020.

The Annex at MPRG is somewhat of a transient space — a meeting place, a play space, a passageway, a sanctuary. It is more important than ever to create spaces that feel safe and allow us to gather together to be immersed in beauty, joy and positivity. ‘Adrift Together’ reflects those qualities, guiding the viewer through the room with its soft sense of motion or inviting the viewer to sit and contemplate the warm, inviting forms.

The shapes within the composition evoke those of nature, especially those found by the sea, drifting and nestled within one another comfortably. A bright palette enlivens the forms, with deeper tones grounding the floating elements. The ambiguity of the shapes leaves the content open to individual interpretation, and invites the viewer to look into and between the forms. This is a space where the mind is beckoned to play and dream.
